GitHub’s legal terms and site policies are being updated. We regularly update our policies
to reflect the evolution of our products, or in response to changing legal requirements,
clarification requests, and user feedback. Please read below for more details.
** GitHub Legal Terms Update
------------------------------------------------------------
Today, we're publishing updates to our standard Terms of Service
(
https://help.github.com/en/github/site-policy/github-terms-of-service) , our Corporate
Terms of Service
(
https://help.github.com/en/github/site-policy/github-corporate-terms-of-s...) , our
Enterprise Subscription Agreement
(
https://help.github.com/en/github/site-policy/github-enterprise-subscript...) ,
and our Enterprise Server License Agreement
(
https://help.github.com/en/github/site-policy/github-enterprise-server-li...)
to capture the new products and services we’ve just released. These updates include new
terms related to Actions, Packages, and Advanced Security, in addition to some
restructuring to allow for ease of use. Restructuring includes creation of an Additional
Product Terms document covering any products provided in addition to GitHub’s core
products and services. These updated terms will be effective immediately and will be
incorporated into your existing terms as applicable.
** Site policy updates
------------------------------------------------------------
Today, we're proposing updates to our Privacy Statement and
(
https://help.github.com/en/github/site-policy/github-privacy-statement) Acceptable Use
Policies (
https://help.github.com/en/github/site-policy/github-acceptable-use-policies) .
Many of the current set of changes to our Privacy Statement are in preparation for the
California Consumer Privacy Act
(
https://leginfo.legislature.ca.gov/faces/billTextClient.xhtml?bill_id=201...)
(CCPA), which comes into effect in January. Others are to reflect our increasing focus on
the security of our services. We also reorganized some of the sections to present the
information with an enhanced flow. Explore the updates
(
https://github.com/github/site-policy/pulls) .
The legal terms updates are effective today, November 13, and the site policy updates will
be effective after the 30-day notice and comment period, on December 20.
